Strategies for Developing Life Skills in Children with Disabilities

Abstract:
Life skills are essential for all children for their Independent life and actively participate in inclusive society (21st Century Learning Framework). As per the learning needs Government of India have RPwD Act, 2016 published, as per the Act, 21 disabilities are incorporated in the five categories of the benchmark disability. Children with disability are facing the challenge to independently live i.e. daily living of the activities, self care, and communication. These skills have to acquire for inclusion. These skills can called easily but they have limitations that can be physical, emotional, social, intellectual, due to chronic. These limitations are influenced make inclusive society. The development of the life skill in special children requires a structured, individualized and Universal approach. With the help of educational aids and appliances and technology, experiential learning, play based activities and community based training will develop life skills. The present study based on the existing practices, theory, policy and inclusive approaches which employed document analysis research method. This research will help to educator, parent and community for social inclusion. Henceforth, holistic development plays a crucial role in ensuring the overall quality life of Children with disability.
