Noise pollution and health
Author(s): Domina Petric
Abstract: Noise pollution is an increasing problem in modern societies and includes environmental noise pollution, defined as all the unwanted sounds in human communities except that which originates in the workplace (such as neighbors listening television or music far too loud, night traffic, obsolete household appliances), and occupational loud noise exposure, which occurs at work. Noise pollution as such is associated with detrimental health effects, including arterial hypertension, psychological stress, tinnitus and hearing loss, sleep disturbances, and even faster cognitive decline.
