Author(s): Dr. Eva Karlsson and Ingrid Andersson
Abstract: Aggression in youths with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex phenomenon that varies in presentation, frequency, and severity. This longitudinal study examines the development of aggressive behaviors over time in a cohort of 150 children and adolescents diagnosed with ASD. The study tracks aggression patterns, identifies predictors of aggression, and examines long-term outcomes associated with early aggressive tendencies. Results highlight the role of cognitive function, language skills, sensory sensitivities, and environmental stressors in influencing aggressive behaviors. Significant findings and detailed demographic profiles are provided along with the key predictors of aggression development.
